The Release Date For The Next Tomb Raider Hidden In Tomb Raider Site
/UPDATE: Square Enix has officially announced that the next Tomb Raider game is called Shadow of the Tomb Raider and will be out on September 14, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can watch the quick teaser trailer below.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be unveiled on April 27. If you check out the official Tomb Raider website you'll see a timer counting down to the game's reveal event. There's also going to be a puzzle game on the site and it will be available on Monday at 9 AM PDT.
ORIGINAL STORY: A famous Internet explorer once said, "You can find all sorts of secrets accidentally embedded into the HTML code of various websites." Kotaku's Jason Schreier set out to make his mark, to find adventure. But instead adventure found him.
That's because it seems that the announcement for the next Tomb Raider's release date was spoiled thanks to the carelessness of web designers for the official Tomb Raider website. If you head over to there right now, you'll be greeted with a cryptic image of what appears to be some kind of eclipse and the promise of an announcement on March 15, 6 AM Pacific Time.
Schreier discovered that closer inspection of the HTML revealed the following comment:
tagline”:”Shadow of The Tomb Raider is the climatic finale of Lara’s origin story. Available September 14th 2018"
I went and checked and I can say that as of this writing, it's STILL there. More information can be found in the HTML such as platforms -- Xbox One, PS4, and PC, unsurprisingly -- as well as some kind of ARG that will be required to unlock stuff, because Square Enix can't stop themselves from ostentatious marketing ideas, and of course, pre-order incentives.
The next Tomb Raider game is widely reported to be called Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The name was first leaked when a developer / marketer had his laptop out on the subway.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure features a comprehensive list of trophies that will require multiple playthroughs. There are a total of 33 trophies to unlock, including 3 Gold, 21 Silver, 8 Bronze, and, of course, the coveted Platinum Trophy.
