Tails of Iron is a new action-adventure RPG that was recently released on multiple platforms, and the game’s story is narrated by the voice actor of Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher game series. It’s complete with the Geralt raspy voice that will be instantly recognizable to any Witcher fan the moment they hear the narration.

Have a taste of the narration in the launch trailer of Tails of Iron below.

Why? Let’s not think about it too much and appreciate that voice actor Doug Cockle, the original voice actor for Geralt in all three Witcher games, didn’t use his normal voice or applied something different when narrating the game. He just turned on Geralt mode and went to town.

It’s an unexpected combination but if you didn’t know much of The Witcher series, you’ll still think it works well with the game’s tone and setting. Tails of Iron is created by indie developer Odd Bug Studio and follows the story of Redgi, the heir to the Rat Throne. He embarks on a journey to reclaim his Kingdom from the frog clan and it can be pretty gruesome seeing humanoid rats and frogs in armor duking it out.

Here are the features according to publisher United Label:

  • Brutal combat, featuring dodge-rolls, parry bashes, and fatal executions

  • A vast and treacherous Kingdom comprised of six distinct biomes, each with its own hidden paths and secrets

  • A compelling story narrated by the deep, raspy vocals of the legendary Doug Cockle

  • A range of side quests offering players additional gold on-the-side

  • Hidden blueprints to forge new and powerful weapons

  • Savage boss fights against the Frog Clan’s deadly, oversized generals

  • A gorgeous and livingly crafted 2D hand-drawn art style

Tails of Iron is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

On Steam, it’s currently 10% off until September 25 putting the game at just PHP 494.95 and received a ‘Very Positive’ rating based on more than 500 user reviews so far.

Current-gen editions will feature 4k resolution and 60 fps. On the PS5, the game will make use of the DualSense controller’s Adaptive Triggers when you block, parry, or charge a weapon attack.

If you’re lucky to find physical copies of the game (called the Crimson Knight edition), it comes with twelve additional skins to play around with as you embark on reclaiming a rat kingdom.
