Developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts announced Apex Legends Mobile, a mobile version of their hit free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends, which is set in the Titanfall universe. It will be out for iOS and Android devices .

Closed beta tests will slowly roll out as the first batch of players that get to try this version of the game will be those from the Philippines and in India. Beta tests are expected to start sometime in Spring, or rather, sometime later this month, for Android devices and will invite a small wave by the thousands. Soon after, more players will be invited to Apex Legends Mobile and will eventually make the game available for iOS users.

The mobile version will also be free-to-play just like the original Apex Legends and all microtransactions in the mobile version will remain strictly cosmetic, giving players no gameplay advantage or disadvantage in a match. It will also have it’s own separate Battle Pass and cross-play will not be available in the mobile version, so don’t expect a mobile player to go against PC players anytime soon.

It’s interesting seeing Respawn expand further with Apex Legends as just last March, the free-to-play battle royale game was released on the Nintendo Switch and features cross-play, allowing you to play against those on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.

Apex Legends is known to be a fast-paced battle royale game with a lot happening in a single match, so I’m curious to see how well it will perform and if Respawn can perfectly translate the full experience into mobile devices, and if it will be a game that’s accessible to a lot of players and not be a title that is only playable through high-end devices.
