Dead By Daylight's Next Big Update Changes Matchmaking, Improves UI, And More
/Developer Behaviour Interactive released a new video detailing the changes coming to Dead by Daylight’s next big update and it’s a doozy.
For starters, the 4v1 online horror game is getting a new UI, a big change for veteran players that have been playing the game for years. The changes are done for both the Survivor side and the Killer side and it looks cleaner to say the least. Survivors still have the necessary information displayed in their screen but will require to look at other section of the screen instead of the mostly staring at the bottom left, which tells you the state of your team and how many generations are left in order to escape.
UI changes
The UI for the killers on the other hand now have more information given to them. Killers will now be told how many hooks they’ve done in a match. For Survivors, information about each player will now include how many times a player was hooked, which is key as you now have the necessary information to encourage vital plays in a match.
Dead By Daylight's Latest Killer Is A K-pop Star That Throws Knives
In this update, player will also have the option to scale the HUD with the scaling option, adjusting based on how you want it to be instead of what resolution you have available
Matchmaking changes
The next big change is how matchmaking will be moving forward in Dead by Daylight. Ranks in the game will no longer be used as a form of matchmaking and instead will be repurposed as a rewards feature that grants players rewards like bloodpoints as they ranking up.
With this change, matchmaking is now based on skill rating which will be great for killer players. If you’re highly experienced with one killer, you’ll be paired with experienced survivors as well. But let’s say you switch to another killer that you’ve never played before. Ideally, this matchmaking system will not pair you with veteran survivors, making it a better experience for both sides.
The monthly rank reset will only affect the Ranks, giving you new rewards to earn but will not reset your matchmaking rating. On paper, it sounds like an improvement but let’s see if this system is a good change once it goes live on the Public Test Build servers.
Clown, Trapper and Wraith changes, animation improvements, perks and a lot more
This big update also comes with changes to the killer Clown. He will now have faster bottle reload speed and has an alternate bottle that can speed up a survivor or the killer if they go through it. Wraith was also get a change in this update as he will be given true invisibility. From a certain distance, it will no longer be easy to spot the killer with his signature faint shimmer but will be easier to spot the closer he gets to a survivor’s perspective. They are also adjusting the Trapper, specifically the chances of escaping the killer’s trap once a survivor is trapped.
Also, a graphics overhaul to the Gideon Meat Plant and Crotus Prenn Asylum maps are planned for this update as well as new animations for survivors from crawling to crouching (improved t-bagging) and more.
The graphics overhaul to the game started last year as they’ve slowly did a face lift on various maps as the updates started going live, improving the visual of each area, changing the layout, even improving how the generations look. We are also going to see changes to specific perks like Diversion, Fixated, Hex: Undying, Iron Maiden, Open Handed, and Second Wind.
You can read the changes of each one in the a blog post published by the developers.
Naturally, all of these changes will be available first through the game’s Player Test Build which will be available to players who wish to test out the changes coming to the game and provide feedback before it goes up on live servers. PTB servers are expected to go live sometime this week.
This is Behaviour Interactive’s ongoing initiative to upgrade Dead by Daylight as it just reached it’s 4th year since launch.
