Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Guide - How To Fish
/Bungie just went live with a new season for Destiny 2 called Season of the Deep and with it a variety of new content and gear for players to grind. The biggest surprise was the inclusion of fishing, a simple but relaxing activity that will give you rewards for all the effort. Here’s a quick guide on how to do fishing.
Destiny 2 Season of the Deep - Fishing
How to Unlock Fishing
Once you log in, you can’t fish right off the bat, sadly. You’ll first need to go through the Season of the Deep introduction mission and then complete the quest ‘Into the Depths’ which starts right after. After completing these missions, you’ll then receive the quest ‘Gone FIshin’.
Simply head to Suraya Hawthorn at the Tower through the Annex Landing Zone to talk to her and she’ll give you a Fishing Tackle, a container that will store all of the bait you will earn as you play the game.
Once you have the Fishing Tackle, the next step will require you to gather at least 20 Bait. This is fairly easy to achieve as all you need to do is simply play activities such as any of the Season of the Deep activities, patrols, public events, or any destination material found on each planet.
From what we’ve gathered, patrol missions will grant you two Bait while Heroic Public Events grant seven to eight Bait.
Once you’ve gathered 20 Bait, your next task is to start fishing!
How to catch fish
Fishing in Destiny 2 is fairly simple from what we’ve gathered so far. There are currently only three locations with fishing spots – the EDZ, Nessus, and Savathun’s Throne World. First, you need to find a fishing spot in any of the three locations mentioned. The quest will point you toward the EDZ’s Outskirts for your first Fishing session. What you are looking in the map is a fishing icon pointing to where to look. Once you are near the area, you need to find a beam of light, this is where you can do fishing.
Head over there and approach the water and look for the button prompt to start fishing. This is Square for the PS5/4, X for the Xbox, and ‘E’ for PC players.
Once you see your character casting his line, all you need to do is wait for a tug on the line or the bobber going down, this indicates that a fish has taken the bait. so all you have to do is press the same utton used to start fishing to pull out the fish.
Doing it at the perfect time will result in a perfect catch, which improves your chances at better quality fish. Don’t worry, if you run out of bait, you can still fish without it. The only drawback of fishing without Bait is a lower chance of getting better quality fish.
Once you catch enough fish, the quest will then ask you to go to Nessus in the Cistern to catch fish there. Soon after, in Miasma in the Throne Room.
Unfortunately, fishing spots don’t last forever as they despawn due to public events showing up near the fishing spot.
How to get rewards from all that fishing
Once you’ve gotten your fill of fishing, head back to the H.E.L.M. and into the left side to the Sonar Station. Down the stairs, you’ll notice a pod where you can dump all your caught fish for rewards. It’s right before the Sonar Station vendor.
What do you get for dumping fish in this aquarium-type container? Well, it can go as high as a Seasonal weapon (legendary fish) as this is the only means of earning this season’s Reckoning weapons. You also simply earn Glimmer and Sonar Station's reputation.
To get a better chance at good loot, it would be best to fish as a group as there’s a focused fishing gauge that increases by the number of people fishing in the same spot, so invite your clanmates or friends.
As an added bonus for dumping your caught fish in the aquarium, you get to visually see the fishes you caught swimming around the station. Sadly, these fishes will go away sooner or later, so don’t expect a welcome party from the fish you’ve caught throughout the season.
Destiny 2’s Season 21 called Season of the Deep is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
