E3 2019: Marvel's Avengers And All The Final Fantasy Announcements In One Place
/People were excited about two things from Square Enix’s press conference - Final Fantasy VII Remake and our first look at Marvel’s Avengers. They start the show with a bang, giving tons of details on Final Fantasy VII Remake, and ended the show with Avengers. In between these two games were a variety of remasters and new titles.
Here’s a quick rundown of what was revealed at the show:
Crystal Dynamics finally reveal Marvel’s Avengers and will be released on May 15, 2020
Crystal Dynamics, Marvel, and Square Enix have finally revealed the long-awaited Marvel’s Avengers project. Simply called Marvel’s Avengers, it’s a 4-player co-op game that lets players play as one of the iconic members of the Avengers. Sadly, no gameplay footage was shown, only an in-game cinematic. This is a new and unique storyline that has no ties to the MCU and it will be out next year. They also promise no loot boxes of any kind or any pay-to-win feature. All post-launch content will be free. There’s still more that they have to show to get a full picture of the game but here are Matthew’s thoughts on what was revealed so far.

After the announcement of Final Fantasy VII Remake’s release date, which is March 3, 2020, everybody wanted to see more, and that’s exactly what Square Enix did. They started the show with the original game’s start screen with a third option titled “remake?”. The third option was chosen and we were given tons of new detail; showcasing the new combat, revealing the game’s first boss fight in its entirety, and the debut of Tifa kicking ass, which you can watch above.
