Epic Games Store Is Giving Away Star Wars Battlefront 2 Starting Next Week
/ Carlos HernandezEpic Games revealed that the Epic Games store will be giving out DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 next week for free. You can claim your copy of the game and download it starting on January 15 and the offer will be available until January 22.
Epic Games Store launched in 2018 and on 2019 they started giving out games for free more frequently on a weekly basis.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 was a highly anticipated title back in 2017 but was tainted with a controversial pay-to-win monetization and loot box system that was removed eventually thanks to the backlash EA and DICE received after launch. The system eventually evolved into a cosmetic-only loot system but the damage was done. Regardless, EA and DICE continued to support the game with new multiplayer maps and other content that it’s now in a more palatable position for players that skipped it’s initial launch and hoping to give it a try this month.
This isn’t a multiplayer only game as Battlefront 2 also features a completely new story that starts at the final moments of Return of the Jedi as you play as Iden Versio, an elite commander for the Empire.
What’s being given away by Epic is the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebration edition, which consists of all post-launch content plus cosmetics up to the Rise of Skywalker update.
DICE is no longer working on new content for Battlefront 2 but finding players to ally or fight against won’t be a problem as it’s likely many players will jump at this opportunity to play/own the game next week. For now, Epic Games Store is currently offering the startegy sci-fi roguelike game Crying Suns for free right now and the offer will last until January 15.
