Here’s What All 5 Class-Specific Malignant Rings Do in Diablo 4
/During the Campfire Chat panel for Diablo 4 at Blizzcon 2023, Blizzard revealed the effects of all five Malignant Rings that are coming to Diablo 4’s item pool next week on November 7 for both seasonal and Eternal characters.
These new unique rings were crafted based on the unique effects introduced through the Malignant Hearts system we saw during season 1 of Diablo 4’s live service journey. These five rings are class-specific, meaning there’s one new ring a class can hunt for when patch 1.2.2 goes live on Tuesday.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the abilities of each unique ring below. Take note that the values stated are based on an Item Power of 800.
All 5 Malignant Rings coming to Diablo IV
Ring of Red Furor (Barbarian only) - After spending 100 Fury within 3 seconds, your next cast of Hammer of the Ancients, Upheaval, or Death Blow is a guaranteed Critical Strike and deal 28%[x][10 - 30%] bonus Critical Strike Damage
Airidah’s Inexorable Will (Druid only) - When casting an Ultimate Skill and again 5 seconds after, you Pull in Distant enemies and deal 2,484 [1380 - 2760] Physical damage to them. This damage is increased by 1.0%[x] per 1 point of Willpower you have.
Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul (Necromancer only) - You automatically activate the following equipped Skills on Corpses around you:
Raise Skeleton every 1.0 [2.0 - 1.0] seconds.
Corpse Explosion every 1.0 [2.0 - 1.0] seconds.
Corpse Tendrils every 8 [16 - 8] seconds.
Writhing Band of Trickery (Rogue only) - Casting a Subterfuge Skill leaves behind a Decoy Trap that continuously Taunts and lures enemies. The Decoy Trap explodes after 3 seconds dealing 8,143 [5,21 - 8,281] Shadow damage. Can occur every 12 seconds.
Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop (Sorcerer only) - For each type of Elemental damage you deal, gain 14.0% [10 - 15]% increased damage for 4 seconds. Dealing Elemental damage refreshes all bonuses.
All five rings will have a chance to drop by beating the endgame boss Echo of Varshan.
Patch 1.2.2 is just about the new rings as a few fixes are coming to the game as well, and you can see the full list in the official patch notes.
During the Diablo 4 panel, Lead Game Producer Kayleigh Calder, mentioned that bringing back abilities found in Season of Malignant wasn’t in the original plan, but the team is always keeping an eye on ways to bring items that will remain permanent for the game based on community feedback. Simply put, these Malignant Rings are not Season two specific, they are staying in the game for good.
Blizzard stated to not expect this to be the norm as seasonal abilities transition out as a new season goes live as it all depends on the feedback from the community. "It doesn’t mean that we’ll bring things back from every season, but we will for opportunities, especially when the community is letting us know how much they enjoyed it..”, says Calder.
During Blizzcon 2023’s opening ceremony, the Diablo 4 team revealed the plans for upcoming patches as well as revealing the game’s first expansion called Vessel of Hatred.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
