Hideo Kojima Is Not Part Of The Recently Announced PS5 Game Abandoned
/Blue Box Game Studios announced their survival game Abandoned that’s coming exclusively on the PS5 later in 2021, but the reveal quickly turned into many speculating that this might be Hideo Kojima’s next game in secret due to the lack of information about the studio working on the title.
I’ve tried researching about Blue Box Game Studios myself and there’s not much to go on as the only game known to be from this developer was The Haunting, which was in Steam’s Greenlight program in 2015, a program that is now unavailable in the platform.
What’s weird is that if you do google Blue Box Game Studios, you’ll find their official website with nothing but an official response to the Hideo Kojima rumors.
”We received several emails regarding the Hideo Kojima rumor. We have no association with Hideo Kojima nor do we claim to have any association nor was it our intention to claim such a statement. We are a small group of developers working on a passionate title we wanted to work on for a long time. We have been assisting other studios in the past with their projects and we wanted to work on our very first big project. While it is true that we've been working on small projects in the past, we certainly didn't use that for marketing purposes. We hope this has clarified this matter and hope to see you all in our very first gameplay reveal of Abandoned.”
The game seems real enough, at least based on the trailer you can check out below.
Sony even featured Abandoned on their PlayStation blog, which gave more detailed about the FPS survival game.
You play as Jason Longfield who sudden wakes up in a forest and is now fighting for his life and find a way to escape. Realism seems to be the focus as the shooting mechanic is tuned to be slow and make sure every shot matters. Abandoned will also fully utilize the DualSense controller features like the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to enhance the experience.
Blue Box Game Studios is aiming for a late 2021 release. With regards to the Hideo Kojima being part of the project, there’s no real evidence at the moment, but if it does come out to be another Kojima marketing trick similar to how Metal Gear Solid V was officially revealed, I think we’ll enjoy the ride regardless.
After 15 years Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now available on PC, Xbox Series, and even PC Game Pass. But it didn’t launch smoothly as at launch players experienced numerous bugs and issues as they returned to The Zone.
