Media Molecule Is Ending Support for Their Game Dreams in September 2023
/Developer Media Molecule (Little Big Planet) announced they are ending support for their game creation title called Dreams, in September. After September 1, 2023, there will be no more live support or updates for the game.
Players can still play and create/share whatever they want in Dreams, you’ll have a storage limit of 5 GB for your future creations as the game will be going through a server migration. The good news is, the player’s current creations will not count towards this new storage limit, only those that were created after the server migration.
Media Molecule did mention that Dreams will receive a few more updates before September, mentioning Tren and improvements to animation and the game’s last Create mod update.
“We will continue to share and celebrate creations in Dreams with the wider world on our social channels, our streams, Impsider roundups, and more. We will be continuing our in-game curation work to make sure the Dreamiverse feels as alive as it always has been, and to surface amazing creations from you, our community, for everyone to enjoy.” says the studio in their announcement post.
“We know this won't be an easy message for everyone to hear, and it's certainly not been an easy decision - Dreams has been a special project for Media Molecule and helping this burgeoning community of game developers, tinkerers, creatives, collaborators and dreamers grow and express themselves remains one of the best things we've ever done. Thank you for being part of it with us - we look forward to you joining us on our next adventure.”
Efforts in the studio will not be focused on their next big project. They are currently not ready to talk about it, but they did confirm that it is indeed not Dreams 2.
Dreams was a unique title as it was meant as a space for players to create anything they want from games to audio/visual experiences using the assets available in the game. These creations from players can be shared with other players to explore and inspire.
Dreams was released on February 2020 for PlayStation 4.
For those in Asia, Dreams had a different name — Dreams Universe.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
