NieR Re[in]carnation is Getting a Closed Beta Test
/ Miguel MendozaThe much anticipated new entry in the NieR series that is coming to mobile phones is getting a closed beta test at the end of the month. Square Enix announced on the NieR Re[in]carnation site that a closed beta will be taking place starting on July 29 at 13:00 JST to August 5 at 12:59 JST in Japan.
Registration for the closed beta is available starting today until July 26 23:59 JST and will only accept a total of 20,000 applicants (10,000 users for iOS and 10,000 for Android). If the applications exceed 20,000, participants will be decided via a lottery.
Some story details and character art have been released for the game including a few screenshots showing what looks to be a turn-based battle system.

On a cold stone floor, the girl wakes up. It was a vast space with large buildings lined up. Guided by a strange creature called “Mama”, the girl begins to walk on the stone pavement. To recover what she has lost and to atone for her sins. Inside a “Cage” that we don’t know who built.

NieR Re[in]carnation is being developed by Applibot and is being produced by Yosuke Saito with Yoko Taro and Daichi Matsukawa as creative and lead directors. With character designs by Akihiko Yoshia and music by Keiichi Okabe. Yoko Taro has made the remark that Re[in]carnation is tied to its predecessors, yet is "definitely its own title, not a spin-off of Gestalt/Replicant or Automata".
