A huge thanks to everyone on the team at Housemarque, PlayStation Studios, and all the other teams involved. We can't wait to have this out soon and for every player out there to experience the planet of Atropos!#Returnal #PS5 #April30 pic.twitter.com/ymacgtGXbg
In Returnal, you play as Selene, who finds herself crashing on an alien planet after investigating a strange signal. She will quickly learn that those who live in this planet is hostile and must fight her way to survive and hopefully wind a way out. The kicker? She’s stuck in a time loop as she is brought back to the moment she crashed once she has died. With it being a rogue-like, each run will be completely different from enemy times to the environment.
Housemarque is known to create fast-paced and satisfying gameplay and they are delivering just that in Returnal. What’s new coming from these developers is that this game is story-heavy and i’m curious to see how they will handle the storytelling for a roguelike game.
Returnal will also be one of the many current-gen titles that will cost $70 (~ PHP 3,300), $10 more than the current standard price for console titles. This isn’t a surprise as developers and publishers are slowly leaning towards this direction with games like NBA 2K, Demon’s Souls, and more priced at this range.
Returnal will be out on April 30 exclusively on the PS5.
