Players Accidentally Bought The Wrong Version Of Final Fantasy VII Remake
/ Carlos HernandezIt’s a day of celebration for some as today marks the official release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, but others are left starting their digital copy of the game with a version they cannot understand.
Players in Asia are complaining that they have mistakenly bought the wrong version of Final Fantasy VII Remake stating that there isn’t enough information in the PSN Asia stores informing costumers what language the product features before checkout. One user in the FFVII subreddit pre-ordered the Chinese version of the game, thinking they bought the English version. Many quickly commented on the post to share that they are experiencing the same issue.
One reddit user commented that he’s powering through, saying that he’s “trying to play the Chinese game. Not like I can do much about it.”
This is an issue cause by the PSN Store selling multiple copies of the same product. In Final Fantasy VII Remake’s case, at least for Hong Kong PSN, they are selling the Chinese version and the English/Japanese version separately. To make matters worse, all advertisements and search results in that PSN region bring up the Chinese version first, making it easier for costumers to make a mistake in their purchase if they are looking for the English version of the game.
In PlayStation Asia’s Facebook page, a wave of complaints from those that bought the wrong version of Final Fantasy VII Remake are also expressing the same complaint. PlayStation Asia has replied saying that they "are aware of the language issues that customers are facing. We are looking into it now and will get back on this.”
Writer’s take - be it excitement that led to human error, it’s the responsibility of the online store with a region hosting a series of languages to make it easier for customers to buy the right product. Sadly, that’s not the case for those living in Asia, and has been like this since the PS3 days.
