Philippine-based studio Ranida Games announced that PBA Basketball Slam: Arcade Edition is entering Steam via their Early Access program sometime this August.
First released on mobile devices, PBA Basketball Slam is a 2 on 2 arcade basketball game with overly exaggerated gameplay. Think NBA Jam, which is the big inspiration to create a game similar to the arcade classic. Instead of teams from the NBA though, they added a local touch by featuring all 12 teams from the Philippine Basketball Association.
"Bringing PBA Basketball Slam to PC will allow more players to enjoy the game and will also allow us to enhance the game further”, says Ben Banta, CEO of Ranida Games. With the mobile game now past the 10 million downloads milestone, the studio plans to add more features and improve the game as development continues as they expand by releasing the game on the PC platform.
With the mobile game having more than 10 million downloads worldwide, the user interface and experience , and more features will be added as we go through development,” he added.
No exact release date was given but based on PBA Basketball Slam: Arcade Edition’s Steam page, they are aiming for a Q4 2020 release.
The Early Access version of PBA Basketball Slam: Arcade Edition will feature all PBA teams playable, Quick Game Mode, Campaign Mode, and Local Multiplayer mode of up to 4 players that has keyboard and controller support.
If you want to try out the mobile version, it’s free to try out right now through the App Store and Google Play.
