Resident Evil Village Is Currently 60 Percent Complete
/ Carlos HernandezA few weeks ago in June, the PS5 was officially revealed to the world and with it came a series of game reveals coming to the new console. One of them was Resident Evil Village, the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise, and apparently the game is more than halfway complete in development.
In a recent Famitsu interview with producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Pete Fabiano, they provided more details about Resident Evil Village and even an update on the game’s current state. The interview was of course in Japanese but a Resident Evil historian Alex Aniel took the time to translate the 50-minute interview and share it to the world via Twitter.

One of the big details revealed during the interview is that Resident Evil Village will conclude the story of Ethan Winter, the protagonist in Resident Evil 7. But what’s interesting is that they did confirm that the reveal trailer shows which Resident Evil 7 ending is canon for Village.
For those that don’t know, RE 7 gives players a choice mid-way through the game that affect the game’s ending.
The interview also revealed that the game is currently 60% complete and that Village has been in development for three and a half years. It is also confirmed that Village will still have an inventory management system and puzzles to solve, staple features that the Resident Evil franchise is known for.
The interviewer also asked why didn’t the developers just name this game Resident Evil 8, but apparently there’s a reason for it as “village” is another protagonist in the game and that the developers want the players to clearly understand it.
We don’t get it, but I guess we will once we play the game next year. More details on Village will be revealed this August.
Resident Evil Village is set for a 2021 release on Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC.
