Returnal's Launch Trailer Reminding Us That Release Is This Friday
/ Carlos HernandezThe next big PlayStation 5 exclusive is Returnal and it’s coming out this Friday, and the game’s launch trailer wanted to remind us of that fact.
This is a highly anticipated title. Me included as i’m familiar with developer Housemarque’s work as they’ve done Matterfall and Resogun, two memorable titles that I highly recommend you play to get a feel of the studio’s approach in game design. In their latest title, Returnal, this is their biggest and ambitious title yet.
The trailer below shows gameplay of how crazy the game will be and all the baddies Selene will have to face alone as she attempts to find a way out of the planet Atropos. Returnal is a roguelike action adventure in the same vein as Hades, FTL, Dead Cells. Games that when you die, you start at the very beginning, repeating the process all over again. Each run will be different, from the enemies you face to the landscape you’ll be traversing through, so there’s going to be a lot of trial and error in order to progress and eventually finish the game.
With Returnal getting a good amount of spotlight from PlayStation since it’s reveal, I suspect many will experience roguelike for the first time, and it will be interesting to see how Housemarque has developed this title to ease them in to the roguelike formula of repeating from the start.
I for one am very familiar with the high difficult spikes and challenges that come with roguelikes and I expect nothing but a beating with Returnal. But how’s the reception so far now that launch day is just around the corner? Surprisingly, the embargo hasn’t lifted for critics to release their review of Returnal. Impressions and reviews of the game will likely release en masse anytime now so expect a sudden surge of what people think of the PS5 exclusive.
Will it be a must-play? Or a game to wait on sale as this is a full priced game at $70 in the west. Returnal launches This April 30 for the PS5.
After 15 years Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now available on PC, Xbox Series, and even PC Game Pass. But it didn’t launch smoothly as at launch players experienced numerous bugs and issues as they returned to The Zone.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.

Lego Horizon Adventures transforms the serious world of Horizon Zero Dawn into a playful experience geared towards younger gamers. With a lighter story, fun character twists, and familiar machines recreated in Lego form, it serves as a charming introduction to Aloy’s universe. While hardcore fans may find it a bit basic, it’s ideal for friendly, family-oriented play with loved ones of any age.
Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is a hefty game, yet the clear omissions make it feel like a lesser product compared to a title from nearly two decades ago. And while that may disappoint a lot of players, what is present is a great action fighter that looks and more importantly feels awesome to play.
