Dan, Rose, Oro, and Akira from Rival Schools coming to Street Fighter V
/Capcom held a livestream earlier to discuss the next big update coming to the 5th season of Street Fighter V. Hosted by SFV's game director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto, we get a rundown for some of the new characters coming to the game.
Four out of the five characters slated for the next season were revealed during the stream. The first of which is the creator and master of the Saikyo Style, Dan. A bit of gameplay was shown featuring a few of his signature special moves. The hosts mention that Dan's taunts will play into his new mechanics.
The stream then goes into details about the 3rd season of the Street Fighter League wherein participants will be coming from all over the world to compete in early 2021. This is followed by an appearance of AEW professional wrestler, Kenny Omega, who shows off some awesome looking Street Fighter related merchandise then announces the second character for SFV season 5.
Menat's master and Soul Power user, Rose, will be joining the roster for SFV. Rose is still in the design phase but is planned to be getting a stage tied to her upon release. Rose was a very prominent character in the Street Fighter IV competitive scene and it'll be interesting to see how they'll tackle her in SFV.
Oro is the third character to join the roster for season 5. This is the first time that Oro will be playable outside of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and I'm personally excited to see the one-armed magical hobo in SFV's glorious art style. Oro has also appeared in a few character stories in SFV so it will be interesting to see how they'll expand upon his inclusion in the roster.
The fourth character revealed during the livestream was Akira Kazama from the Rival Schools series. Perhaps the most surprising inclusion that no one was expecting as we haven't really seen anything new about Rival Schools in a long time. Capcom mention that they considered several other characters, but ultimately landed on Akira. They also mentioned how battles in Rival Schools were unique and want to incorporate some of that into her moveset. Just like with Rose, Akira will also be getting a new stage along with her.
The fifth and final character for season 5 was not announced during the stream. Instead, we were shown a content release roadmap with Dan being first in-line in winter 2020 with Rose following suit in spring 2021, Oro and Akira in summer 2021, and the final fifth character in fall 2021.
Writer’s take: Pretty happy with the characters shown for the upcoming DLC for SFV. Seeing Akira is a big and pleasant surprise. Though this just makes me wish even harder for a new Rival Schools game.
After 15 years Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now available on PC, Xbox Series, and even PC Game Pass. But it didn’t launch smoothly as at launch players experienced numerous bugs and issues as they returned to The Zone.
