Souls-like Mortal Shell Will Be Released Worldwide On August 18
/ Carlos HernandezDeveloper Cold Symmetry seems to be all set to release their action RPG Mortal Shell as it will be released worldwide on August 18, 2020.
In celebration of the game’s release date, a new trailer of the game was release showing a series of landscapes and enemies players will have to face and the variety of shells one would possess and master.
The trailer above also revealed the game’s ranged weapon called the Ballistazooka which fires powerful iron bolts capable of impaling enemies to environments. We also get a look at the fourth shell called Solomon.
For those unaware, Mortal Shell is an Action RPG similar to games like Dark Souls, in terms of how it’s played and how painfully difficult it could be for many players. The main shtick for Mortal Shell is that players can take control of various shells that can be found in the game world, and these vessels have a set of skill sets, weapon, and stats that you can upgrade and master. Each one represents a different play style for players so it’s more about finding what best suits you.
Last July, Cold Symmetry released an Open Beta via the Epic Game Store to lucky players that were able to score a beta key. Apparently, the developers were surprised by the overwhelming demand to try out the game’s beta that they simply released the beta of Mortal Shell to the public. It’s crazy, as 350,000 players have downloaded the beta.
I tried it and I loved what I played. It’s painful, inviting, and your character can play the lute. What’s even more crazy is the sudden launch of the game this August.
Hopefully, they fixed all the kinks and is indeed ready for a full release as it’s just a few weeks away.
Mortal Shell is priced at $29.99 (~PHP 1470.42) and will be out on the Epic games Store, PS4’s PlayStation store, and Xbox One’s Xbox Games Store. A Steam version is planned but will be released in 2021.
