The 10 Games You Should Get During The 2021 Epic Mega Sale
/The Epic Games Store’s 2021 Epic Mega Sale is currently live and will last until June 17. During this time, select titles are discounted as low as 75%, so we went through the list and found 10 games we highly suggest you get during the sale.
Just like the previous Epic Mega Sale, Epic Games Store is giving out $10 (PHP 500) coupons that can be used to any game above $14.99 (PHP 1,000). Some of the games listed below may not be eligible for the coupon but is still worth the consideration as I think they are quite a steal with the current discount.
Rainbow Six Siege (60% off)
I’ve always kept tabs on Ubisoft’s tactical FPS shooter since it was release back in 2015 and this year is probably the multiplayer shooter at it’s best with how they’ve evolved the game so far. The balancing between all operators seem to be in check, making it the best time to either revisit Rainbow Six Siege or give it a try as it’s a lot of fun right now. The base game is dirt cheap thanks to the sale as it only costs PHP 300 (~$5), with the Deluxe edition just slightly more expensive at PHP 363 (~$7) to unlock the first 16 operators added to the game after release. The new season was also just announced and will be out sometime in June, so the timing is perfect.
Hades (20% 0ff)
Supergiant Games’ Hades is currently PHP 427.99 (~$8) during the sale. I consider Hades as my Game of the Year in 2020, and with how good the game is, any discount is a steal as it’s worth every penny. Every roguelike fan should play this and if you’re new to the subgenre and is eager to understand the appeal of dying just to start at the beginning with a clean slate, I highly suggest you start with this one.
Mortal Shell (30% 0ff)
Mortal Shell was one of those pleasant surprises back in 2020. This Souls-like action RPG from indie developer Cold Symmetry has a lot of great ideas to the formula many are now familiar with. In my review of the game, I consider it a solid introduction to games like it and I still stand on that. It’s a short but sweet adventure that could easily make you a fan of the brutal difficulty in action RPGs like it, and it only costs PHP 620.19 (~$12) to feel the struggle and pain.
Watch Dogs: Legion (50% off)
The latest entry in the Watch Dogs series. It’s quite surprising to see the game half off. It’s just PHP 1,100 (~$22) to be anyone you want in the streets of London as a member of the notorious hacker group Dedsec. Watch Dogs: Legion may have it’s ups and downs but it’s still a great open world game in it’s own right. It now also has online modes available on PC.
Elite Dangerous (75% off)
If you missed out on picking up this deep space flight simulator by Frontier Developments for free at the Epic Games Store, this is your next best chance at picking up this gem. if you’re into exploration and eager to find out more about the beyond, or simply love dog fights in space, then Elite Dangerous will not disappoint, especially with it just PHP 340 (~$7) for the base game. The discount makes sense as they just released the game’s Odyssey expansion, which allows players to finally land on planets to explore and have gun fights on the ground.
Death Stranding (60% off)
Hideo Kojima’s latest offering. Love it or hate it, Death Stranding definitely provides a unique experience like no other. We get to be a delivery guy that reconnects America! It’s crazy. It’s weird, and it’s one of those games that really you to be open minded to new gameplay. It won’t be for everyone but it’s definitely worth the plunge to see what side you’ll be on with a game like this, especially with it currently priced at PHP 1,147 (~$23).
Pillars of Eternity - Definitive Edition (50% 0ff)
I’ll always find myself suggesting Pillars as it’s a must-have if you’re fan of deep RPG gameplay as Pillars of Eternity is considered as the spiritual successor of games like Baldur's Gate and the Icewind Dale series. It may be a 6-year old game at this point but it still holds up if you want a good time sink into high fantasy. With it at PHP 499 (~$10), it’s a no brainer, really.
Mafia Trilogy (40% off)
The remastered Mafia Trilogy is discounted surprisingly low for a package that comes with 3 full games, all visually improved to fit current standards. It’s only PHP 1,374 (~$28) and if you’ve always wanted to give this series a try, now is a good time. This package also comes with Mafia: Definite Edition, which is a remake of the first game built from the ground up.
The Walking Dead: Telltale Definite Series (30% off)
If you haven’t experienced the work of Telltale Games’ studio-defining series, you’re missing out as this jumpstarted the trend of various episodic games that features stories that changes based on player decisions during anxiety-inducing moments. The Walking Dead: Telltale Definite Series contains all 4 seasons of The Walking Dead Telltale series, the 400 Days episode, and The Walking Dead: Michonne. All of that zombie-filled drama for just PHP 680 (~$15).
Phoenix Point: Year One Edition (50% 0ff)
Fans of the XCOM series, either the 1994 classic or the modern take of the franchise by Firaxis Games, will find some appreciation and satisfaction from Phoenix Point as it’s pretty much XCOM with slight alterations to gameplay. The turn-based tactical game is the spiritual successor to the original XCOM series as well, and with XCOM creator Julian Gollop having worked on Phoenix Point, it’s going to be hard to pass. It’s even harder to ignore as the Phoenix Point: Year One Edition, which has all the DLC released thus far, is priced at PHP 489 (~$10) during the sale.
There are more crazy titles that deserve to be in this light so consider this a good start as you take a look yourself at what great deals you can get during the Epic games Stores’ Epic Mega Sale.
In case you missed it, the free game for the first week of the Epic Mega Sale is NBA 2k21. You have less than a day at this point to pick up the game as a new mystery game will be available for free on May 28.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
