The Nintendo Switch Can Now Do Math For You, If You Pay $10
/ Carlos HernandezThe Nintendo Switch is slowly improving as you can now pick up your very own calculator app for just $10 at the Nintendo eShop. The days of using your smartphone to solve math solutions are over as you can whip out your Switch at any time on the go. The future is now.
Simply named Calculator, the application published by Sabec sadly only features single-player math action with no news of any multiplayer function coming in the future, but never say never for future DLC. The app does support table top, TV, and handheld mode for convenience, to easily solve those pesky problems that requires multiplication or division without much use of brain power.
Based on the application’s eShop page , this version of Calculator has an “appealing modern and practical design, sure to be popular with all students and engineers.”. You also get 50 Nintendo Gold Points for purchasing the application, so there’s that.
I didn’t think people needed such an application on a Nintendo system. With this now available for Switch users, one would think this is a sign that we might get more useful applications like maybe Netflix or other streaming apps . Hopefully they are free, of course, since these are subscription-based streaming services. At this point, anything is possible if Calculator can hit the eshop and get priced for $10.
Sonic X Shadow Generations blasts into the stratosphere by delivering a flashy, Shadow-centric epic with high-energy Doom Powers, excellent level design that strikes the right balance between fun and challenge, and a lot of heart in its short story. The fact that the timeless classic Sonic Generations comes with this package is more than just a cherry on top.
Of the Switch’s three Mario Party titles, Super Mario Party Jamboree not only provides the best value and the most content, but it’s a refinement of many of the series’ most iconic elements, with a variety of modes for every mood, skill level, and age group.
Ballistic Moon’s Until Dawn remake polishes the 2015 horror classic with impressive visual upgrades and little additions. However, beyond the sharper visuals and slight changes, the core experience remains the same. Fans seeking a fresh take may find little reason to pick this up over the original, as the gameplay and story haven’t evolved beyond minor improvements.
While it’s a worthy entry into the hallowed series, for Zelda fans who love action and playing with Link’s many toys, Echoes of Wisdom will be an overpriced slog.
I finally feel this fantasy journey coming to an end, and despite how much I've played, I’m surprised by how much I want to stay in this world. Another week with Metaphor: ReFantazio will be enough for a final verdict. But from everything I’ve experienced so far, it’s clear Metaphor is leaving a lasting mark.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered is a fun but flawed revisit to a zombie classic. It stays true in delivering its quirky and chaotic spirit, and was given a fair amount of polish to make it more appealing to modern players. While it’s a treat for longtime fans of the series, newcomers will feel the game’s age through its flaws.
We asked James Ronald Lo of Taktyl Studios about the Philippine game development industry, the importance of events like PGDX, and the impact of Xbox's growing presence in Southeast Asia. The local scene is filled with potential, but further support and opportunities are essential for its growth.
While Visions of Mana doesn’t do enough to propel the series to new heights, many can find comfort in knowing that what we have here is another solid JRPG that can easily reiterate why you fell in love with these types of games, and that it’s a comfort to know that in 2024, there are still new adventures that can transport you to the good old days.
In PlayStation’s State of Play which debuted on September 25, Capcom revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A new gameplay trailer was shown featuring new locations, monsters, and story bits of the game.
Developer Sucker Punch Productions has unveiled their next game and it’s a follow up of their hit open-world game Ghost of Tsushima titled Ghost of Yōtei, set 300 years after the events of the first game.
Frostpunk 2 grips you from the start, balancing city-building with brutal survival challenges. Every decision feels high-stakes as you juggle resources, politics, and the harsh cold. My early hours have been filled with resets and hard-earned lessons as I scramble to keep New London alive, one crisis at a time.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
