Activision announced that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 are getting the remaster treatment from Vicarious Visions and is coming out on September 4.

There isn’t a new game on the horizon but a remaster is a good way to jump start that possibility as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 is coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in a couple of months. It’s suggested retail price is at $39.99 and pre-orders will earn access to a demo of the game that lets you play around with the game in it’s “warehouse” level before the remaster’s release. No exact date was given as to when the demo will be available.

Developers Vicarious Visions has remaster experience as they are one of the developers in charge of remastering the first 3 games of the Crash Bandicoot series for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy that came out in 2017. Tony Hawk pro Skater 1+2 will have all the original levels and tricks as well as the tracks that was drilled into our brains when we tried to land tricks like the 900 on a consistent basis.

The remaster will feature the original multiplayer game modes as well as online and local couch play. Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater will also make a return and will give players the ability to share their creations to the community.

Pre-orders of the physical copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 from select retails will earn a Tony Hawk Mini Fingerboard at launch and is an exclusive offer in the US, Canada, LATAM, Euripe, and Australia. Activision did not specify any bonus to those in Southeast Asia.

Writer’s take: it’s great to see Tony Hawk Pro Skater fans getting some love but time will tell if they will embrace another version of the first two games. The HD version of the first two games came out in 2012, so there’s a gap between that and this title. Hopefully, the reactions of this version of the game once it’s out will spark conversations of a true sequel for the franchise.
